The area around Nicollet Ave. and Lake Street is slowly being rebuilt after damage from the Uprising following the murder of George Floyd.

The new Lake Street Post Office at 110 E. 31st St. is open for use after the former buildings burned down. Hours are 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday. The temporary Lake Street and Minnehaha Post Office inside the Kmart on Nicollet is still in use as the Minnehaha office is being rebuilt.

The Supervalu site at Nicollet and Lake Street is fully demolished and cleaned out, although the Kmart and murals remain. The city of Minneapolis is currently working on plans to reopen Nicollet Ave. through the site, and is looking for community input on their website at https://www2.minneapolismn.gov/government/programs-initiatives/new-nicollet/.

The fence has come down around the Fifth Police Precinct at 3101 Nicollet Ave after it was damaged during the uprising following the murder of George Floyd. It has been two years since the fence went up.
