I’ve spent much of my time on the Minneapolis Park Board thinking about what keeps young people purposeful and connected. Although the Park Board plays a big role in juvenile crime prevention by channeling young people into positive growth and opportunities, other partners are needed to ensure accountability that keeps everyone safe.
To fully help our kids, we need a Hennepin County attorney who understands both prevention and accountability. Anders Folk is that person. He began his legal career in the juvenile division of the Hennepin County Attorney’s Office and has done prevention and diversion work as a federal prosecutor. He has the experience and vision to build a juvenile justice system that helps kids headed down the wrong path.
When diversion fails and young people pose serious risks to public safety, our community needs real accountability and a County Attorney willing to disrupt negative cycles. Accountability isn’t the opposite of caring about kids; it’s part of it. Any parent knows that the right consequence at the right moment can interrupt a downward slide and get a young person back on track.
Let’s choose a new direction on Nov. 3 and elect Anders Folk as our next Hennepin County attorney.
