Our community has been through a painful and devastating year – Operation Metro Surge, the Annunciation shootings, political violence. Our next Hennepin County attorney will face critical choices about standing up to the Trump administration, keeping our communities safe, and earning public trust.
That’s why I am proudly supporting my colleague, Cedrick Frazier. Cedrick has broad experience, from serving as a public defender to a labor lawyer.
But I know him best as a fellow legislator who is trusted to take on the biggest of assignments. He was the House author of our landmark Paid Family and Medical Leave law. He passed our red flag law to keep guns out of dangerous hands.
When we needed to get something tough and important done, we turned to Cedrick.
One of Cedrick’s biggest strengths is his ability to build trusting relationships. At the Capitol, he knows how to bring diverse perspectives together to find common ground – from law enforcement, to victims’ advocates, to impacted community members. I know he will bring this same collaborative, community-centered approach to the County Attorney’s office where it will matter more than ever.
He’s already earned the trust and endorsement of Sen. Tina Smith, Attorney General Keith Ellison, and the DFL party.
Cedrick too knows what it means to deliver true public safety. He’s spoken of growing up on the South Side of Chicago and what a failed justice system looked like in his community.
He brings a vision for public safety that protects community while centering the victims of violence, that ensures accountability while reducing recidivism.
