A new futsal court opened in Clinton Field Park in late October after eight years of advocacy work. Originally slated for construction in 2023, Caleb Crossley, founder of Futsal Society (second from far left standing), successfully found funding for futsal courts through park dedication fees. This fee is accessed on any new development and goes to improvements to the local parks.
Futsal-friendly areas are not easy to find in the Minneapolis parks system and the Futsal Society often plays indoors at Whittier Recreation Center. This court, along with new futsal courts at Whittier Park and Audubon Park, will make futsal more accessible outdoors.
The original plan for Clinton Field Park included two futsal courts, but the final plan resulted in only one. The Whittier Park futsal court is shared with half-court basketball courts. The Clinton Field futsal court was initiated before additional improvements planned for 2027.
The Futsal Society played a game on the city’s first full-sized futsal court at Clinton Field Park on Nov. 8, 2025.
