Lake Harriet Environment Council helps improve water quality

Posted

The Lake Harriet Environment Council organizes stewardship events throughout the year, such as buckthorn removal and in-water cleanups. There are weekly buckthorn removal twice a week from 9-11a.m. on Tuesday and Thursday’s most weeks, weather permitting. Cleanups are monthly over the summer months June-October. Saturday events are at Roberts Bird Sanctuary and William Berry Woods. The Council has supported bicycle path safety, beach maintenance, clearing of invasive plants, addressing goose/human conflict, turtle protection and infrastructure maintenance – including the bandshell. Improving water quality remains an ongoing area of focus for the Council.
