STREET ART SERIES
Few neighborhoods are as full of public art as the Wedge. LHENA has been proud to work with SPRAYFiNGER and local artists to sponsor another year of the LynLake Street Art Series. Thanks to grant funding from the Minnesota State Arts Board, artists and organizers have been hard at work for this years Street Art Series.
BENCH HONORS FLETCHER MERKEL
On Aug. 18, the Kenney community came together to dedicate a bench on east side of Grass Lake in remembrance of Fletcher Merkel. “This bench will serve as a quiet, meaningful place to feel connected with Fletcher and remember the joy he brought to our lives and the love he had of the outdoors,” said organizers.
LAKE HARRIET OPEN HOUSE AUG. 27
An open house is planned for Aug. 27, 5:30-7 p.m. at the lawn area east of Harriet bandshell, near the boat launch, to introduce the public to the improvements at Lake Harriet North Beach. The project will incorporate retaining walls for structural support and preservation of the existing trees, provide better means of beach access including ADA compliant access, and improve upon required maintenance needs for the beach.
SUPER SALE SEPT. 19
Each year the East Isles, East Bde Maka Ska, Cedar-Isles-Dean, Lowry Hill, Kenwood, and Lowry Hill East neighborhoods join forces to promote a multi-neighborhood garage sale called the SUPER SALE (all caps result from editorial license). Last year the SUPER SALE included over 140 sales. This year’s will be held on Sept. 19.
